Sustainability, environmental awareness, anti-waste, corporate social responsibility … these are no longer just buzzwords in the hospitality sector. As a hospitality group, we realize that in 2024, this is something we can no longer ignore.
Every day, we strive to work energy-efficiently, reduce waste, use less plastic, and improve sorting and recycling. The number of different containers behind our kitchen is growing: we sort as much as possible. Local and seasonal products are given every opportunity, keeping the food chain as short as possible. When purchasing new appliances and machines, we focus on energy- and water-saving labels.
But we want to go even further and make an extra contribution. As part of the European Green Deal (= Europe CO2 neutral by 2050 and the planting of 3 billion additional trees by 2030), we have decided to plant a Grands Cafés Forest, right here in our own country.
In collaboration with Goforest and Climate@mb(r)assador Koen Meuwissen, the Grands Cafés group will plant 1,000 trees annually over a period of five years. Specifically, in the village of Grune in the province of Luxembourg (https://impact.gofamily.be/en/partners/grands-cafs-groep). In the long term, this will remove 875 tons of CO2 from the air!
